A mum has divided opinions after she revealed that she threw away her son’s toys after he refused to tidy his room.

TikTok user Tabatha explained that she wanted to teach her five-year-old son a lesson after he refused to tidy his bedroom for two days.

In a video that has been viewed more than 3.4 million times, Tabatha walks around the tot’s messy room that has toys all over the floor.

She then said: “When you ask your child for two days in a row to clean his room and his response is ‘no you clean it mommy.’

“OK, I will do that, gladly.”

She then records herself throwing all of his toys into black bags, and wrote: “Trash here we come,” as the caption.

Tabatha added: “Momma is not raising disrespectful men. It is not a ‘mommies’ job or a ‘womens’ job to do anything (sic).

“You make the mess, clean it up. You see momma struggling, help her. Don’t sit there and let a woman struggle periodt (sic).

“My babies will learn this quickly.”

Although she acknowledges her approach is “extreme”, she’s determined to make sure her son learns his lesson.

“I hated seeing the look on his face when he saw his room. It hurt me just as much but my babies will not be disrespectful (sic),” she added.

Since being posted, the video has received more than 600,000 likes and 23,000 comments from divided users.

Whilst a few people agreed with her tough-love approach, others weren’t impressed.

One person said: “No no no.”

Another person commented: “Judging by his toys, he’s too young for that entire responsibility,” and suggested, “If you want it clean start by helping him and then work up to him doing it alone.”

“This might not have the effect you’re aiming for,” said a third.

Whilst someone else put: “Bad parenting 101.”

Whereas one person defended the mum, writing: “Good job mom! People that don’t agree, also have the kids that don’t respect anyone, including their parents.”

And another wrote: “Love it!!! You clean how I clean. Way to go mom.”
